Apply like you mean it. Think Dream Job.

It's clear you want A job but most candidates are not demonstrating that they want THIS job and there are clear signals that let an employer know that you're just another applicant in a sea of resumes.

Let's put your actions in pursuit of a new job into some perspective.  Many candidates out there subscribe to the 'throw a lot up against the wall and let's see what sticks' philosophy.  Mass applying on job boards and 'quick apply' make it very easy for you to appear like you're just meaningless spam.

How would you act for the posting of your DREAM JOB:
$1MM/year, a block from home, company car, 10 weeks vacation, while doing the work you absolutely love to do with people you enjoy being around, and you can make your own schedule too...

Would you 'quick apply' to that one too?  Of course not, you really do want THAT job!  You're going all out!  Now, capture those actions you just thought of and do that for the next job you want.

Show them you want THIS job, not just A job.  It makes a difference.

I've got three things that quickly come to mind to let an employer know you're a great fit for THIS job...  Next post.  What come to mind for you?
